316H stainless steel, designated as UNS S31609, is a high-carbon version of the standard 316 stainless steel, designed to offer enhanced strength and stability at elevated temperatures. Like 316, it contains 16-18% chromium, 10-14% nickel, and 2-3% molybdenum, but with a higher carbon content (0.04% to 0.10%) to improve its mechanical properties at high temperatures. This makes 316H stainless steel particularly suitable for high-stress, high-temperature applications in industries like petrochemical, power generation, and marine environments.
