904L stainless steel sheet and plate, classified as UNS N08904, is an austenitic stainless steel alloy that is highly alloyed, containing high levels of nickel (around 25%), chromium (around 20%), and significant additions of molybdenum (4-5%) and copper (1-2%). These alloying elements provide 904L with exceptional resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments, including those involving chlorides, sulfuric acid, and other acidic solutions. This makes it one of the most corrosion-resistant stainless steels available.
